We thought it would be nice to share the idea. Of course there was an ulterior motive. We got to eat them afterwards 🙂
Korean ginseng can be used in a multitude of ways. It is important to note that the higher the temperature applied to ginseng, the less affective it’s active ingredients become. If you are cooking with it mainly for taste, this is not much of an issue. However, if the sole purpose for taking ginseng is for it’s health benefits, then it is best to use it in other ways than boiling or frying.
Frying ginseng is a fairly common practice in South Korea, but really defeats the main purpose of taking ginseng.
Eating Korean ginseng dim sims won’t lead you on the path to a stronger immune system, but you could do worse.
Cooking tip for Korean Ginseng dim sims
Depending on how you like your Korean ginseng dim sims, boiled, in soup or pan fried, you can achieve better results by using the appropriate pastry.
When perusing the fridge in your local supermarket, choose the square wonton pastry if you prefer dim sims boiled or in soup. Choose the round Gow Gee pastry when pan fried dim sims are your goal. The Gow Gee pastry is thicker than the Wonton pastry.
